Henry Cains' family
Henry Cairens (known as Henry Cains after about 1820), married his second wife Elizabeth Gray in Yapham, near Pocklington, East Yorkshire, England, on 16.11.1862. They had 5 children :-
1. Henry Parkin Cains, born 20.4.1863 at Devonshire Mills, Canal Head, Pocklington, (map) and died 3.5.1959 at Roslyn, Canal Lane, Pocklington on 3.5.1959. He inherited Devonshire Mills from his father and continued the family milling profession. We found his signed pledge joining the temperance league, promising never to drink alcohol. (Family tradition has it that his Dad kept a barrel of beer conveniently under his bed !) He joined the Blue Riband Army, a temperance movement, and presided at their meetings in Pocklington.

A newspaper article says he also abstained from any spices !
There are two newspaper interviews with him and photos of the mill here
Devonshire Mill is now used as self-catering flats http://www.devonshiremill.co.uk/
